Professor Liu is an economist with extensive experience in industry and academic settings in greater China. She is currently managing director of Bellwether International Group, council member of Asia Society, senior advisor of the Chinese National Association of Industries, and advisor of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association.
Professor Liu has held the positions of Minister of Finance, Chairperson of the Council for Economic Planning and Development, legislator, and member of the Hong Kong Economic Development Commission. She has been chief economic adviser to Chinatrust Financial Holding and Daiwa Institute of Research, and member of the board of directors in both Taiwan Fund and the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation.
Professor Liu has taught in the University of Chicago, City University of New York, The Australian National University, National Taiwan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Tsinghua University in Beijing; she has also served as chairperson cum director of the Department of Finance, National Taiwan University.
A prolific writer, Professor Liu is a columnist for various newspapers and magazines that include United Daily News, China Times, Apple Daily, Economic Daily News, Business Times, CommonWealth Magazine, Next Magazine, Business Today, NOW News and 1st Century Business Herald.
Professor Liu obtained a doctorate degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in political science at the National Taiwan University.
