Švyturys-Utenos Alus was established in 2001 and united two breweries. The oldest in Lithuania, Švyturys Brewery, has been operating from the port of Klaipėda since 1784, where its history began. The brewery’s original founder, a German merchant named J. W. Reincke, could not have known that his family’s symbol, a sea eagle, would remain on the brewery’s coat of arms until today. The brewery celebrated its 100 years of the sea eagle looking after Klaipėda’s brewers by receiving its first gold medal for beer quality from the International Business and Fishery Fair. Since then, it has received many more awards. In 1946, the brewery was reestablished under the name Švyturys and was renovated in 2018 to become a craft beer brewery and hub.
The second brewery, Utenos Alus Brewery is one of the newest, but also the largest and most modern, in the Baltic states. It was established in 1977 with the help of Czech brewery experts. Officially became part of Švyturys-Utenos Alus in 2001. Located near Aukštaitija National Park, it benefits from abundant natural underground water sources protected by waterproof soil layers. 
Švyturys-Utenos Alus is the most awarded Lithuanian beer producer – more than 20 top-level awards from the different prestigious beer championships worldwide. 
Švyturys-Utenos Alus has been a part of the Carlsberg Group since 2008 and shares its victories and achievements with it.
